My Amal Journey

To start off with, I might disappoint my readers (especially my facilitators) because this is the first blog, I am putting thought and effort into. My apologies…

Starting from the time I gave the interview for the fellowship; I was well rehearsed and had practiced what to say a couple of times. I woke up early and gave a very interactive interview. I was extremely happy when I got through. I attended my first session with a spark and hoped to make the most out of this fellowship.

I was much unaware of the commitment required by this fellowship. Unfortunately, I was tangled in a lot of other things along with the fellowship and was unable to pay much time to it. I had multiple projects, online internships, a super active social life, and the brunt of my academics to bear. I was further struck with a couple of unfortunate events that did not allow me to pay any heed to the fellowship and it was not for long that I started considering it a burden.

It was a turning moment for me when I had my one-on-one session with one of my instructors and she told me how I could have a changed outlook on this fellowship. I owe it to her that I had a far more positive and brighter perspective about the fellowship. Owing to this program, I was able to fix my mismanagement of time, develop a sound network, work on a project that I could showcase as my achievement in the future and most of all, take my rejection for the PepsiCo. internship as a challenge to come back stronger and, as my kindest instructor said, to have faith that there is something better in store for me.

Apart from all that, it has been lovely doing all the fun activities during the sessions and getting a chance to interact openly with other fellows and the instructors. I was also able to improve myself by fixing little errors by shadowing the learnings in the online courses. Everyone in my batch is extremely friendly and helpful. If there was one thing, I learnt best, that would be of kindness and going the extra mile to help somebody out.

Thank you, Amal! It was a great journey so far. I would recommend my peers to at least have this experience once before the start of their professional life to reflect on where they stand.
